How Bundesliga works
The Bundesliga is the top division of German football: eighteen clubs, each playing the other twice, with the table decided on points and no playoff to soften it. It is the one football competition SportsArena365 can currently publish a live table and fixture list for, because its data comes from a free, openly licensed source.
Every club plays thirty-four league matches, home and away against each of the other seventeen. Three points for a win and one for a draw, with goal difference separating clubs level on points — a format with no conference split and no seeding, so the table is read straight down.
The bottom of the table matters as much as the top. The last two clubs are relegated outright and the club above them enters a two-legged playoff against a side from the division below, which is why late-season matches between mid-table clubs can still carry consequences.
European qualification is decided by final league position, so a season contains several separate races running at once rather than a single title race.
